This is story of growing up. A journey of self-discovery and personal growth. Piper has been kicked over and over by life but she picks herself up and makes the best out of a bad situations. Piper is just so selfless with an undying love for her family even when its not returned. She is so self-sacrificing, loving and a survivor. This is her journey to finding her perfect life partner and finding out what she valued in a person.

The main male character Easton is the unexpected hero in this story. He is quiet but very supportive and quietly tortured. I loved how he crept into her heart and our hearts as well. He was a great father figure to Ainsley and a great partner to Piper.

The love that Piper has for her adopted daughter Ainsley is so special and her friend Jenna is her true family who has stuck by her and been supportive. I would be remiss in not mentioning Danny her unrequited love who married someone else and had a daughter(Ainsley) He never grows to love her which devastates her. Danny dies which is what acts as a catalyst for the book.

I just loved this book. I loved this little family that included Easton, Piper and Ainsley. Despite the personal issues each person had they were so sweet and supportive. This book was beautifully written and gave me all the feels.

One thing I disliked about this book was introducing Clayton as another potential love interest. I don’t think it was needed for Piper to realize that she loved Easton. Easton leaving would have been enough I think. The character was not fleshed out and done justice in my opinion. Otherwise I loved this book and fell in love with the main characters.

This book is perfect for people who like angsty books and contemporary romance

Blurb:

I used his body to forget the pain until the line we drew was buried under muddied water. I used to believe in three things: That true love only existed once, heartbreak couldn’t kill you, and everything happened for a reason. But if that were true, I never would have watched Daniel McCray get married to another woman, have a beautiful baby girl, and pass away before my very eyes. Everything I believed was a lie. Until I met them.
